Aims

The overall aim of the SEIC Business Support Hub is to exploit Systems Engineering capability to promote innovative activity among all types of businesses both regionally and nationally. Further, we aim:

  • To act as a focal point for business to business interactions with regard to Systems Engineering tools and techniques.
  • To broker links between businesses and academic research in Systems Engineering
  • To either provide or broker support of businesses with the aim of increasing market opportunities or achieving product development.
  • To develop collaborative links with trade associations and professional bodies
  • To develop collaborative links with all types of business in order to develop business of mutual benefit

Scope of Operation

Systems Engineering tools and techniques underpin the business processes of all modern industries, ranging from enterprise and resource planning to product requirements capture and design. The scope of Systems Engineering therefore is wide ranging and applies on many levels to all sizes of business.

The Systems Engineering Innovation Centre (SEIC) has been formed in order to become a world class centre of excellence in Systems Engineering.

Part of this remit is the practical application of techniques developed by the SEIC and the raising of awareness of those already in use. The SEIC Business Support Hub supports this remit primarily through the following means:

  • Events
  • Business Training
  • Special Interest Groups
  • Research funding and partnering
