Completing a short course brings particular benefits to both employee and employer.

Short courses are run by the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. These courses, developed with BAE Systems, the SEIC and the Systems Engineering Doctorate Centre are matched against INCOSE competencies.

As a employee, you gain strengthened career development, updated technological skills, enhanced professional competence and improved employability.

As an employer, the knowledge base of your company is improved, upgraded and revitalised; new networking opportunities are created; you gain access to University expertise relevant to your core business and your staff do not have to take long absences from the workplace.

What does a short course involve?

Without assessment, about 50 hours of study are completed. Each course includes a full set of study notes plus some extra reading material to study further if desired.

Because short courses are usually modules which form part of an award - a Certificate, Diploma, or MSc -, students may opt to complete the necessary assessments (coursework and/or exams) to gain credits. A typical module carries 10-15 credits for which further hours of independent study are needed.

Further course titles will be chosen and brought on-line according to suitability and demand so if you have a particular interest or would like to discuss your or your company's individual requirements, please contact us.
